Metadata Remover is designed so your files stay on your device. This page explains what the product does, what it does not collect, and what account, billing, and analytics data may exist.

Files stay local

Metadata inspection, cleaning, and editing run in your browser. Your photos, PDFs, Office files, and videos are not uploaded to a Metadata Remover server for processing.

The app uses your browser to read, clean, and edit supported metadata fields. Closing the tab clears the in-page workflow state.

What we do not collect

We do not collect file names, file contents, exact metadata values, exact file sizes, or downloaded cleaned or edited files.

Metadata preview values and metadata values you enter for editing are processed locally for your current browser session and are not sent to our analytics provider.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand whether pages and tools work. Analytics may include page views, referrer, country, browser, device type, operating system, tool type, broad file type, coarse size bucket, and success or failure status.

Analytics events must never include file names, file contents, exact metadata values, exact byte sizes, or payment identifiers. Checkout query parameters are removed from analytics pageview URLs where supported.

Accounts and authentication

If you create an account, we store account data such as your email address, display name, profile image, authentication provider, plan, and Premium status needed to operate account and billing features.

We may use authentication providers, session cookies, and anti-abuse checks to keep accounts and sign-in flows working. Account access does not change the file privacy boundary: we do not store your files, filenames, extracted metadata values, metadata values you enter for editing, cleaned or edited downloads, or per-file processing history.

Billing and payments

When you purchase Premium, checkout is handled by a third-party payment processor. We may send the account email and purchase metadata needed to create and verify the checkout.

We store billing records such as payment status, product identifier, checkout identifier, order identifier, customer identifier, customer email, Premium purchase date, and Premium expiration date. We do not receive or store full card numbers or bank account details.

Premium access and product reliability

For signed-in users, we store Premium entitlement and privacy-safe product records needed for batch access, support, abuse prevention, and reliability.

These records may include tool category, file extension, coarse size bucket, success or failure status, and error code. They do not include file contents, filenames, exact metadata values, exact byte sizes, or cleaned or edited files.

Retention and deletion

We keep account, billing, Premium access, and reliability records for as long as needed to provide the product, resolve support requests, prevent abuse, maintain financial records, and comply with legal obligations.

You can contact support@metadataremove.app to request account deletion or ask privacy questions. Some billing or security records may need to be retained where required by law, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, or dispute handling obligations.

Limitations

Metadata removal and editing cover common metadata fields, not forensic sanitization, legal redaction, or guaranteed compatibility with every app that may read metadata. Visible text, visible image content, annotations, hidden document content, and file-specific edge cases may require separate review.

Large files, encrypted files, damaged files, unsupported video settings, or older browsers may prevent local processing.
